Do You Need Employment Letter for OCI?

I helped my wife apply for her OCI card through VFS New York a few months ago. She's self-employed, so we were also wondering whether proof of employment would be needed. It never came up during the application.

As far as I know, the standard OCI checklist doesn't generally include an employment letter. If a consulate needs extra information for an individual case, they may contact the applicant directly. That's why it's important to keep an eye on your email after submission.
