Yes, as far as my knowledge goes, you need to provide an employment letter for OCI. It is one of the mandatory documents. About the relevant forms or the samples, you will be notified by the place of requirement of this paper. You can use the employment letter for a job in several companies; there are plenty of options for what papers will be needed from you.

I think there is some confusion because document requirements can differ from one consulate to another. My brother recently applied for an OCI card in the UK and was not asked for an employment letter. However, the authorities can always request additional documents if they need further verification.

I applied for OCI as a retired applicant and did not have to provide any employment-related documents. The application was processed without any issues. In my case, the focus was mainly on citizenship, passport, address proof, and Indian-origin documents.

From what I experienced during my OCI application, an employment letter was not specifically requested. I was employed at the time, but I only submitted the documents listed in the checklist for my jurisdiction. It's worth checking the latest requirements because they can vary depending on where you apply.

If you are applying for an OCI card, then you need to submit your employment letter for verification of your employment or job. You can submit an employment letter describing your job profile. If the applicant is self-employed, then you need to provide all the valid documents. If the applicant is retired, then you need to submit the retirement documents of the applicant, and if the applicant is a student, then you need to submit some document proof, like an admission letter.

As per the guidelines and rules of the Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) scheme, an employment letter is one of the mandatory documents for individuals who are currently working. This requirement ensures that the OCI applicant has a stable source of income and is financially independent. Skipping it may result in  OCI application rejection.
