To convert your PIO card to an OCI card, you can apply online on the OCI service website. For this, the Indian government has created a separate online application for the issuance of an OCI card in place of a PIO card, with no registration fee.

Applicants who wish to convert their existing PIO card to an OCI card must fill out the online application form on the official OCI services website of the government. Then, choose the option of OCI registration in lieu of a valid PIO card and upload the requested documents, such as a passport-sized, colored photograph, your existing PIO card, and your signature, as per the specifications. After submitting the online application, applicants must submit a hard copy to the Indian Consulate General. For this, they can book an appointment using the website. Within the given processing time, you will receive your OCI card.

To convert your PIO card to an OCI card, you must first visit the official OCI services website, complete the application form, and submit the required documents. After that, book an appointment at the Indian embassy or consulate for the physical submission of the documents. Within the given processing time, you will get your OCI card.

Applying for an OCI card in lieu of a PIO card is a simpler process and does not require as many documents as the new OCI application process. You only need to submit the key documents, i.e., your existing PIO card and the completed application form.

To convert your existing PIO card to an OCI card, you must fill out an application form available on the OCI or passport website. Submit the documents such as a copy of your passport, PIO card, utility bills, pre-paid FEDEX envelope, and driver's license. We applied for it back in 2015, and during that time, there was no conversion fee. Now, a fee may be required for the conversion. For a better understanding, you can check online.
