Quick question on Minor OCI (VFS USA). VFS asked for below: Joint marriage affidavit notarized : Please Provide Joint NOTARIZED Affidavit (Both spouse's INK signature) indicating the reasons for non-availability of PROPER requisite certificate for Gov. Registered Marriage (Registrar's signature/seal). (Not sworn affidavit) We had submitted self-attested copies of Indian marriage certificate which is signed/stamped by the Marriage Office of a Tier 2 Indian city. I'm thinking of submitting a joint notarized affidavit saying: - We were legally married on [date] at the Office of the Marriage Officer, India. - This is the only marriage certificate ever issued to us. - No other government-registered marriage certificate exists. - The affidavit is only to clarify that no alternate certificate is available. Has anyone had a similar issue? Do you think this should satisfy VFS? I saw a few comments that said apostille from MEA may be required. But I think that is not applicable given this is already India issued document ?

Hi Mam/ Sir
As per VFS instructions, you need to submit a notarized joint marriage affidavit; apostille is not required in that case.
