Has Anyone Contacted Support Regarding e-OCI Portal Errors?

I'm applying for an OCI card from Canada after becoming a Canadian citizen, and I've been having repeated problems with the new e-OCI portal over the past few days. I'm wondering if anyone else has contacted support about these issues and actually received a response.

I completed most of my application online, uploaded my passport, surrender certificate, and photograph, but the portal keeps showing unexpected errors. Sometimes it logs me out while I'm reviewing the application, and other times it displays a generic error message when I try to save or continue. On one occasion, the uploaded documents disappeared even though they had already shown as successfully uploaded.

I've tried using different browsers, clearing the cache, and even submitting the application from another computer, but the same problems keep coming back. Since I haven't been able to complete the application, I haven't reached the stage where I can submit it to VFS.

Has anyone experienced similar e-OCI portal errors recently? Did you contact technical support, and if so, how long did it take to receive a reply? Were they able to resolve the issue, or did it eventually start working on its own?

Based on your experience, is it better to wait a couple of days before trying again, or should I report the issue immediately? I understand technical systems can have temporary problems, but I'd appreciate hearing what worked for others.

My experience in the USA was a little different. I never contacted support because the errors only appeared during the weekend. Every time I tried to submit the application, I received a session timeout message even though I had been active for only a few minutes.

I waited until the next business day and tried again during the morning, and surprisingly everything worked without changing anything on my computer. Looking back, I think there may have been temporary server issues.

If your application isn't urgent, you could try again at different times of the day before assuming something is wrong with your documents. That said, if the same error keeps appearing for several days, reporting it probably makes sense. Requirements and technical systems can change, so individual experiences may vary.

I contacted support after receiving repeated errors while trying to verify my uploaded passport copy. In my case, they replied asking for additional information like the browser version, operating system, screenshots, and the approximate time the error occurred.

The response wasn't immediate, but they did eventually acknowledge the issue. They didn't give a specific timeline for fixing it, but a few days later I was able to continue the application normally.

One suggestion I'd make is to avoid creating multiple new applications if the portal is already showing technical problems. I nearly started over, but later realized my original draft was still available. Before submitting another application, you may want to confirm whether your existing draft is recoverable. Also, remember that technical issues on online government portals can be temporary and procedures may change over time.

I ran into something very similar while applying from the UK about three weeks ago. The portal kept throwing errors whenever I reached the document upload section. At first, I thought one of my PDF files was too large, but even after compressing the documents, the issue continued.

I submitted a support request with screenshots showing the error message and included the approximate time it happened. I didn't receive an immediate response, but after several business days I got an acknowledgement. By that point, the portal had already started working normally, so I'm not sure whether the issue was fixed specifically for my case or whether it was part of a broader system update.

From my experience, it's worth keeping screenshots of every error. If you contact support, having the application reference number and exact error details may make it easier for them to understand the issue. Since portal updates happen from time to time, I'd also keep checking periodically because temporary technical issues do get resolved.
