The Atlanta consulate describes that as the normal processing time for a new OCI application based on Indian origin, calculated from registration. Individual cases can take longer depending on verification and other processing factors.

The e-OCI change is quite recent. Current government information confirms that OCI services are still handled through the official online OCI system, and the MHA provides an online status enquiry facility.

If yours has been pending beyond the normal timeframe, I'd contact the relevant Indian mission/VFS channel for your jurisdiction rather than relying on an older Reddit or forum timeline.

Also, once approved, make sure you understand how to access/download the e-OCI. Don't confuse an application still under processing with an e-OCI download problem.
