If any individual wants to apply for an Indian passport surrender from the USA, then he needs to apply through the VFS service website, which handles all the Indian passport surrender applications from the USA. Under the Indian Citizenship Act, 1955, Indian origin individuals are not allowed to apply for dual citizenship. If they want to obtain citizenship in another country, then they need to apply for Indian passport renunciation to acquire the foreign country's citizenship.
