Yes, they are eligible to register for an OCI application if they fulfill all the eligibility criteria, which are:

  • To apply for an OCI, you must be a foreign national of Indian origin.
  • You can apply for an OCI if you are a citizen of India on 26/01/1950 or after 26/01/1950.
  • You should belong to a territory that belongs to India or become a part of India after 15/08/1947.
  • The minors of OCI cardholders are also eligible for OCI registration.

I have also registered for the OCI as a national of a Commonwealth country through the official website by filling out the online application and uploading all the documents, and paid the fees for the OCI application. Then, I booked an appointment for my OCI application verification, visited the nearest application centre, and submitted all the necessary documents with the OCI application.

You can register for an OCI card as a Commonwealth country, but you must fulfill all the requirements for the OCI card, which are mentioned below:

      • You should be or have been an Indian citizen on 26 January 1950, or after.
      • If you want to apply for an OCI, then you must be a child, grandchild, or great-grandchild of someone who was an Indian citizen.
      • If you are a minor and your parents have an OCI card.
