Has Anyone Completed the e-OCI Migration Process?

I'm an existing OCI cardholder from the USA and recently noticed the new e-OCI migration option on the official OCI Services portal. From what I've read, existing OCI holders can now generate and download a digital e-OCI Card, but I'm unsure what the migration process is actually like.

Has anyone here completed the e-OCI migration process recently?

I'm particularly interested in knowing:

  • How long did it take after requesting the e-OCI?
  • Did you have to upload any additional documents?
  • Was your existing OCI information automatically linked to the new e-OCI?
  • Did you face any login or verification issues?

I still have my physical OCI booklet, so I'm wondering whether I should migrate now or simply continue using it. I'd appreciate hearing about recent experiences from anyone who has already completed the process.

I haven't completed the migration yet, but I contacted my local Indian Mission to confirm whether it was mandatory. They told me that existing physical OCI booklets remain valid, so there isn't any urgency if you're not traveling immediately. I'm still planning to generate the e-OCI because it seems more convenient for future travel.

Mine took around three days. Initially, I couldn't find the e-OCI tab because I was using an older login. After resetting my password and signing in again, the option appeared. Once I generated the request, I was able to download the digital card without any issues. My physical OCI booklet still works, but it's nice having the digital version on my phone as well.

I completed the migration last week. I logged into the OCI portal using my existing account, selected the e-OCI Card option, and submitted the request. I didn't have to upload any documents because my OCI details were already available in the system. The download option appeared the next day. Your experience may vary, but the process was fairly straightforward for me.
