Hi, is there anybody who recently applied for an OCI Card, specifically in the last 12 months, and received it? Can you please tell me how long it took you to receive the card from the time you mailed your application? Also, please mention the mission in the us or elsewhere where you sent your application.

Hi, I am a little confused about where to check the status of my OCI card application. I came across two different sites, one where I applied and another portal as well. Can someone please suggest an easy-to-use portal where I can check the recent status of my application?

Just a reminder that OCI doesn't have any expedited service option. So, if you want to travel to India urgently, then you should get an e-visa, which will take around 2-3 days.

For a fresh OCI card application, the processing time is 6-8 weeks. However, when OCI cards are printed in India, it takes around 5-6 weeks. But when I applied for my OCI renewal, or even when you apply for a PIO card conversion, the processing time takes around 2-3 weeks. Also, the processing time can be significantly longer for foreign spouse applications.

Although the processing time is 6-7 weeks, you must apply for an OCI card in advance, especially when you are planning a trip to India. It is because there can be delays, mainly for foreign spouse applications. If you apply early, then you get sufficient time in case some unexpected holdups arise, and this will also help you have your OCI card in hand before you start your journey.

The processing time for an OCI card in the US typically varies from 8-12 weeks. But this may vary based on some factors, such as the number of applications present at the time,  the consulate or embassy processing the application, and any extra documents that may be required from your end. So, make sure to apply in advance to avoid any delays.
