I recently became a UK citizen, and now I am applying for an OCI card with my family. My wife was born in the UK and has no ties to India. So, here my question is, can I apply for her OCI because she is married to me, as I am a former citizen of India?
Since my wife is a foreign citizen who qualifies for the OCI status through me, she has to wait till I receive my OCI card. So, I have decided instead of applying for the OCI application for the whole family, first I will apply for the OCI card, then I will fill out the application form for my wife so she can simply use my OCI card for ties to Indian roots.
When applying for the whole family together, know that each OCI application will be treated separately. It means send the documents separately. With this, in case your child was born in another country, then his/her application will be based on your former status as citizens of India. In this case, the parents need to provide their renunciation certificate with their child's OCI application.
Hi, I already have an OCI card, and I am now applying for one for my mother. In the application form, part B asks whether any family member has registered for the OCI card or not? I filled in the information, but it also asks for my OCI application date and reference number. I have the card, but I do not remember the application date and reference number. Please advise me on what I should do now.

Knowing your OCI application reference number is simple. On the OCI portal, log in with your credentials, then go to the status inquiry. With your file reference number and acknowledgment date, the system will provide the status report. Now, you can simply mention this in your mother's OCI application.
