To apply for an OCI card from the USA, you must first complete an online application form on the official Government of India OCI portal. Once you have filled out the form accurately, you will need to take a printout of it and submit it, along with the supporting documents, to the VFS Global centre. I am not aware of the specific documents you need to submit, so please check them on the official website.

Here are the documents to apply for a smooth OCI application in the USA. You need to submit your current valid passport with a minimum of six months' validity, a naturalization certificate, proof of Indian origin, such as an old Indian passport, and a birth certificate, a copy of your surrender of Indian passport, proof of marriage, proof of employment, and proof of address.

To apply for an OCI card, I have applied through an OCI online application from the VFS Global website, and filled out the application form by providing all the correct details and submitted the documents for the OCI application with fees and booked the appointment for the OCI application with the nearest VFS application centre and submitted the application with all the supporting documents for the OCI application. After a successful application submission, you will get an acknowledgement number through which you can track the Status of your OCI application.

To apply for an OCI card in the USA, you need to visit the official website of OCI services and fill out the application form for ‘New OCI application’ and fill in all the details correctly, with supporting documents. Then you need to book an appointment at your nearest VFS application center and submit your OCI printed filed application with all the documents on your scheduled day of appointment, and pay the fees for the OCI application in the USA. After submitting your OCI application, you can track your OCI application status through the OCI services website.

I recently applied for my OCI card, so here are the steps that I followed. Firstly, you will have to complete the online application on the official portal and note down the USAN. After that, you need to print out the form and prepare all supporting documents. Then, submit the form and documents to VFS Global through their website and handle the required fee as per the instructions. Now, simply sit back and track your application status.

I moved to the US for high school after applying for my OCI card in India. The card is ready now, but I won't be able to travel to India to pick it up. Is there an alternative option to pick it up here in the US at any OCI office? Can someone please help me with this situation?

Everyone must remember to check and verify their eligibility for an OCI card before starting the application process, as rejection may occur if they are not eligible. To help you out, the eligibility criteria are that you must be a foreign citizen who was eligible for Indian citizenship at the time of India's independence. Or you, your parents, or your grandparents must have been Indian citizens. Spouse of an Indian citizen or an OCI cardholder is also eligible.
