I primarily use my PAN card as proof of identity. A PAN card is a system of identification that assigns a unique identification number to every Indian tax-paying entity. In my family, everyone has a PAN card. It contains various information required to verify a person's identity, such as my photograph, name, my father's name, date of birth, signature, etc.
A PAN card has personal information on the PAN card, like the name of the cardholder, the Fathers name, a QR code, signature, date of birth, photo, 10-digit alphanumeric PAN number, and the PAN number shows many details about the individual, company or private firm, like for example ‘AFZPK8745K’, this is the PAN number structure, where first three letters are alphabertic services numbers starting from AAA to ZZZ, and fourth number repernests the status of PAN cardholder like P defines ‘Indivisual’, F defines ‘Firm’, C defines ‘Company’ H for HUF (Hindu undivided Family), and A for AOP (Association of Persons), Fifth character defines the PAN holders’s last name and surname, next four letters is serireal number from 0000 to 9999, and, last character defines an alphabetic check for identification purpose.
On a PAN card issued to an individual, there are basic identification-related details. While a PAN card issued to companies has the company's name, date of registration, the PAN number, QR code, and hologram, and date of issue of the PAN. A PAN card issued to companies will neither have a photograph nor a signature.
A PAN card actually has several types, and according to that, it contains different information. On the normal PAN card, which is issued to every individual, there is the individual's photograph, name, father's name, birth date, signature, an authenticity hologram, a QR code, date of issue of the PAN, and most importantly, the PAN card number.
You can never use your PAN card as an address proof because it doesn't contain any details about your residential address. It is a core part of your financial and personal identity and contains details related to the same.
