Given below are the points that show why you need to update your PAN card:

    • You need to update your PAN card for filing an easy ITR and to claim tax refunds. For filing an ITR, you need to provide an updated PAN number; otherwise, your return would not be processed.
    • For optimising the Tax deduction at source TDS and Tax collection at source TCS. It is a specified percentage that will be deducted from the earnings before it is credited to you.
    • Updating your PAN card results in getting the benefits of the double taxation avoidance agreement DTAA, which will help you to claim the tax paid in a foreign country.
    • If you don't update your PAN card, then it can result in receiving a notice from the Income Tax department, which can further lead to penalties and criminal proceedings. So to avoid this, you need to update your PAN card.
    • For doing easy financial transactions in India. It requires an updated PAN card for the Know Your Customer (KYC) process. Additionally, you will need to update your PAN card for opening bank accounts and making investments in India.
