As an OCI, if you an any Indian income generated from any business, rent, or any commercial property, then you need to pay taxes under the Income Tax Act. But if you have an OCI cardholder, NRE account, or FCNR account the you are exempt from paying any tax in India. Also, on the equity-based mutual funds and long-term capital gains.

OCI cardholders who are residing in India for more than 182 days need to file an ITR and pay all the taxes on their income earned in India through any means, such as work, rental payments, and business. Their income is usually based on the global income and subject to the conditions of the DTAA.

Yes, OCI needs to file an Income tax in India if they are earning an income with indian from any business or work. This is me, and they have to file an ITR for paying their taxes, and it is also determined by their residential status and the amount earned in India, of how much tax they should pay. If their income is more than 2,50,000 INR, then they need to file an ITR, which is mandatory, and if their income is less than 2,50,000, then they don't need to file an ITR.

Any income that is generated by an OCI in India is liable to pay taxes in India, whether it is through working, providing services like rent, or from any business. You need to pay all the taxes according to the Income Tax Act.
