We're traveling from the UK to India next month as a family, and I'm trying to make sure I don't miss any of the new travel requirements. My husband and I both have British passports, and we're traveling with our 8-year-old daughter on a tourist visa.
I recently learned about India's new digital e-Arrival Card and understand that it needs to be completed before arrival. However, I'm confused about whether children need their own separate e-Arrival Card or if parents can simply include them in their own submission.
Our daughter has her own passport and visa, but I couldn't find a clear explanation about minors. Some travel forums suggest every traveler needs an individual form, while others say children can be added under a parent's application.
Has anyone recently traveled with children after the digital e-Arrival Card became mandatory? Did your child have to submit a separate form, or was one application enough for the whole family?
I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through immigration recently. I know procedures can change, so I'm mainly looking for recent experiences before I complete everything.
We flew from Australia a few weeks ago with our 5-year-old son.
I had exactly the same question because many countries allow minors to be included on a parent's arrival declaration. For India, we ended up completing a separate digital e-Arrival Card for all three of us after reading the instructions more carefully.
The child's form was simple since most information was identical except for the passport details. I saved all three confirmations on my phone and also printed copies just in case.
Nobody specifically asked about the e-Arrival Cards during boarding, but immigration was much quicker because everything had already been submitted.
If you're unsure, I'd recommend preparing each family member's passport information before starting the forms. It only took us around 15 minutes to finish all three.
We traveled from Canada to India in April with our two children (ages 6 and 11). In our case, each family member had a separate passport, so we completed an individual digital e-Arrival Card for every traveler, including both kids.
The forms were quite similar, but we entered each child's passport details, flight information, and our hotel address in India. The email confirmation came separately for each submission.
At immigration, the officer checked everyone's travel documents individually. They didn't ask many questions, but having a confirmation for each traveler made the process straightforward.
Based on our experience, I wouldn't assume children are automatically covered under a parent's submission. Since each traveler has their own passport record, completing separate forms seemed to match the immigration process.
Of course, requirements can change, so it's still worth checking the latest official guidance before you travel.

I traveled from the United States with my teenage daughter in May.
From what I understood, the digital e-Arrival Card is linked to the traveler's passport rather than being a family declaration. Because of that, I completed one for myself and another for my daughter.
We didn't experience any issues at Delhi Airport, and both QR code confirmations were accepted without any questions.
One thing I'd suggest is double-checking names, passport numbers, and dates of birth before submitting. I almost entered my daughter's passport expiry date incorrectly and had to review everything again.
Since these systems are still fairly new, it's possible the instructions may be updated over time, so checking the latest information from the official Indian immigration authorities before departure is always a good idea.
