Typically, it takes 10 to 12 days to receive a new (fresh) passport from the date of submission. If you applied for a passport renewal and all the information in the new passport is the same as in the old one, then you will receive your passport within a week. Additionally, you will receive your old passport immediately after submitting your new passport application, bearing a cancelled stamp.

I must say that the Delhi passport services have improved significantly. I filled out my online passport application on May 8th, received an appointment at the passport office on May 13th, and received my new passport on May 22nd. I have applied for a new passport as I lost my old one. I was permitted a passport on a pre-police basis. For verification, the police came to my home and then returned. I know that during police verification, many people face issues, but in my case, it was simple. I highly appreciate the Indian government for simplifying the passport application process.

I am a bit late in answering this question, but I wanted to share my experience with you. I had actually applied for Tatkaal passport services as I needed to apply for a visa, and my old passport was not valid for 6 months. However, at RPO, it gets rejected because they mentioned that they required at least three supporting documents with the mentioned address, and I had only two. Although it was a normal reissue process, it took a little bit longer, and I received my passport late, beyond the expected time.

As of my last knowledge update in August 2023, the normal Indian processing time generally ranges from 30 to 45 days. However, based on several factors, the processing time can vary, including the completeness of the passport application, the specific passport office, and the requirement for additional verification. Additionally, for faster processing of your passport application, you can opt for the Tatkaal passport scheme, which typically allows you to receive your new passport within 1 to 3 days. However, to do this, you will need to pay an additional fee.

From the date of your passport appointment to the receipt of your passport, you can expect to receive it within 15 days. The application process can be completed in less time if police verification is conducted promptly. Once you receive a message from the Passport office indicating that your police verification has been initiated, you can then contact the police.

Things are changing in India, so the passport application process is also changing. In just 20 days, you can receive your passport if you have all the required documents by your side and you fill out the passport application without any errors or mistakes.
