Do I need a marriage certificate from India to apply for an OCI card for my foreign spouse? I am an Indian citizen, and my husband is a US citizen. Our marriage is registered in the US, and we have the certificate of registration. However, do we also need an Indian marriage certificate to apply for an OCI card?
Can someone help me with the list of documents needed for an OCI application based on the spouse? When I am searching online, it lists more than 30 documents. So, I wanted to ensure from someone who has applied recently and has good knowledge about the procedure.
Once you have completed two years of marriage and are living together as husband and wife, your spouse can apply for an OCI card. Till that time, he/she can stay in India on long-term X visas, which have a validity of up to 5 years.
Can I get an OCI card if I am a foreigner married to an Indian citizen, where our marriage has been registered in a foreign land, and we have only taken an attestation from the Indian embassy on our marriage certificate?
