I'm a British citizen with an OCI card, and I'm due to fly to India in five days. I recently created an account on the OCI Services Portal because I wanted to download my new e-OCI card before my trip. The problem is that after logging in, my dashboard doesn't show my OCI details at all, so I can't generate or download the e-OCI card.
I double-checked that I used the same email address I thought was linked to my OCI record, but nothing appears in my account. I also tried logging in from another browser and waited until the next day, but the situation hasn't changed.
I still have my physical OCI card, which is valid, and my British passport hasn't changed recently. My concern is whether this is just a portal issue or if my OCI record isn't linked correctly.
Has anyone experienced their e-OCI card not appearing in the account before traveling? Did it eventually show up on its own, or did you have to update your email or contact the Indian High Commission?
Since my flight is coming up soon, I'm trying to understand what other OCI holders have experienced recently.
Mine turned out to be a backend delay rather than an account problem.
After clicking Generate e-OCI, nothing happened for several hours. The portal just showed that the request had been generated. I logged in again the next morning, and the download option finally appeared.
I've seen several people mention similar delays, so if you've already linked your OCI correctly, it may simply take some time for the system to finish processing. Based on community experiences, the waiting time has varied from a few minutes to a couple of days.
I ran into something similar a couple of weeks ago. My OCI wasn't showing on the dashboard even though I was certain I had registered with the correct email.
After reading the FAQs, I realized the email currently on my OCI record was different from the one I was using. I submitted an Email ID Updation request through OCI Miscellaneous Services, and once it was approved, my OCI appeared in the dashboard and I was able to generate the e-OCI. The official FAQs mention that if the registered email is no longer accessible, you'll need to update it before you can download the e-OCI.
If your physical OCI is valid and your passport details haven't changed, I'd still keep those documents with you while sorting out the portal issue.

Before my trip from Canada, I couldn't see my OCI record either. I contacted the Indian mission, and they suggested verifying that I was using the email actually linked to my OCI record.
Once that was sorted out, everything worked normally. One thing I'd recommend is not waiting until the last minute before traveling to test your login. Even if the portal has temporary delays, it's less stressful when you have a few extra days.
Also remember that the official FAQs note that delays in generating or downloading an e-OCI don't necessarily mean the portal has crashed—it can simply be due to backend processing.
