To apply for an OCI card, you must be a citizen of India, which is any person who is born in India or whose grandparents or parents were born in India. This is defined as a Citizen of India in the Government of India Act, 1935.

Minors are also eligible for an OCI card if the child's parents or grandparents, or great-grandparents, are citizens of India.  Then, in that condition, a minor is also eligible to apply for an OCI.

I have applied for an OCI card as I am an Indian origin citizen, but living in the USA, I have applied for an OCI card application online through the official webiste by filling an online form, providing all the necessary details like the personal information and contact numbers then, I have uploaded all the supporting documents for my OCI card application and paid all the fees online. After that, I have booked an online appointment at my nearest VFS application center to submit my OCI application. So I took a printout of my OCI application and went to the appointment on the scheduled date and time, and submitted my filed application with all the supporting documents in front of the officer. After that, I get my acknowledgment slip, through which I can track the status of my OCI application.

Not a single person whose parents, grandparents, or great-grandparents are citizens of Pakistan, Bangladesh, or any other country which is mentioned by the central government is eligible to apply for an OCI card.
