I'm an OCI holder from Canada and changed residences twice after receiving my OCI card. I looked into this because I thought it might be mandatory like updating a driver's license.
From what I understood, OCI cards don't function as proof of residence in the same way some identity documents do. In my case, I did not submit a separate address update application solely because I moved.
However, if you're applying for OCI miscellaneous services or re-issuance in the future, you may have an opportunity to provide updated details then.
You may want to verify the latest process with the relevant consulate since procedures can evolve.
I moved from New Jersey to Florida a couple of years ago and had the same concern. Based on my experience, I didn't update my OCI card address immediately and continued traveling to India without any problems.
When I later applied for OCI miscellaneous services for a passport update, I provided my latest address at that time. Nobody asked why the old address was still on the OCI card.
That said, requirements can vary, and it's always worth checking the latest OCI guidelines before making a decision.
To update or change your address in your OCI card, you can apply for it from the OCI miscellaneous services, and choose your service 'Change of address/occupation', and fill out your application form for the OCI card miscellaneous services. You will get your updated OCI card with your new address within 4-6 weeks.
If an OCI cardholder wants to update the latest information on the OCI card, like a change of address, then they need to visit the OCI miscellaneous services and select the service to change address on the OCI card, and fill out the online application form with correct details and complete documents. After a few days, you will receive your new and updated OCI card.

I recently renewed my British passport and updated my OCI details during the related process. My understanding is that address changes alone generally don't require a separate OCI application, but I would double-check current rules.
For immigration purposes, I usually travel with documents showing my current address if needed, though I've never been asked for them in India.
Individual cases differ, and authorities may request additional information depending on the situation.
