I recently applied for PIO to OCI conversion, so here are the steps that I followed. Firstly, I filled out the application form at the official OCI website. After that, I prepared and collected all the required documents for the application and took a printout of the checklist and other supporting documents. At last, I submitted my duly signed printout of the application form along with the supporting documents with the applicable fee at my nearest centre.

In case anyone is not aware of the PIO to OCI conversion process, you can get help from an expert. I recently got my PIO card converted to an OCI with the help of Visament, and I must say the whole process felt like a breeze. Their team was so helpful and communicative throughout the process, so I did not have to worry about anything. I got my card within a few weeks, and the whole process went smoothly.

Applying for OCI in lieu of a PIO card is an easy process and does not require a lot of documents. The two main documents that current PIO cardholders need, along with the application form, are valid details of their PIO card and current foreign passport details.

Hi, please note that no registration fee will be charged for PIO to OCI conversions, other than a small amount for services that are provided by the various outsourced companies that handle such issues on behalf of the Indian government.

The PIO (Persons of Indian Origin )card scheme was withdrawn by the Indian government and was merged with the OCI (Overseas Citizens of India ) card scheme. So, now PIO cards are not valid, and it is important to get your PIO card converted to an OCI card.

For anyone who is confused about the PIO to OCI conversion, here is the answer. In 2002, the PIO scheme was launched by the government to provide citizenship benefits to Indian-origin people with foreign citizenship. This scheme was later abolished by the Indian government and merged with the OCI card. Therefore, anyone holding a PIO card must convert it into an OCI card, and the process of updating or converting a PIO to an OCI is referred to as PIO to OCI conversion.
