Here are the documents that you will need to submit to apply for an OCI card for individuals who were born in India. The first applicant needs to submit their surrender certificate. For the applicants who are born in India but have acquired foreign citizenship then they have to submit their surrender certificate, as India does not allow dual citizenship according to the Indian Citizenship Act 1955. You cannot travel to a foreign country or get their citizenship before surrendering your Indian passport. If you do so, then you are liable to pay a penalty and can be jailed for committing a criminal offence and for breaking the Indian Passport Act.
