Yes, you can convert your PIO to OCI online. Although the PIO cards are still accepted for entry into India, this will only be valid till 31st December, 2025, and after that, your PIO card will become invalid. So, it is advised to get your PIO converted to an OCI as soon as possible.

Yes, you can convert your PIO to OCI. I recently got my card converted, and it was quite an easy process. I have already received my OCI card, and I have surrendered my PIO card to the relevant Indian embassy. I applied for the conversion online, and the entire process is the same as applying for a new OCI card.

You need to convert your PIO to OCI, as there is no other option, because the PIO card scheme will be withdrawn on December 31st, 2025. Don't worry, the process is very easy, and the conversion will generally take around 8-10 weeks. The timeframe may vary, but this is the general processing time, so try to get your card converted as soon as you can to avoid facing issues in the future.

Yes, you must get your PIO converted to an OCI before the deadline to keep enjoying the privileges. The OCI card offers many more privileges than the PIO card. Remember to prepare everything in advance before applying to avoid any kind of delays. You will need some important documents like a copy of your current foreign passport, a copy of your PIO card, your completed online application form, recent passport-sized photographs, etc. Verify the checklist and try to keep these documents ready to enjoy a smooth application process.

You need to convert your PIO to OCI, and it's my advice that you should do it as soon as you can, because the PIO scheme has been withdrawn. The final deadline to get your PIO card converted is December 31st, 2025. You should try to get it converted before the deadline because the PIO card will no longer be considered a valid travel document after this date.
