There are two main differences between single-entry and multiple-entry visas validity and price. Multiple-entry visas have more allowed cumulative stays within their validity, and are costlier than single-entry visas.

There are several types of visas, including single-entry, double-entry, and multiple-entry visas. Don't get confused between these classifications and apply based on your purpose and the duration you wish to stay in the country. A single-entry visa allows entry only once, a double-entry visa allows entry twice, and a multiple-entry visa allows entry and exit multiple times within the validity period.

Hello, I recently travelled to India for personal work, and I applied for a single-entry visa because I had to stay there for only a short duration. I came back to the US within the validity period of my visa. If you plan to stay in the country for an extended period and may need to enter and exit frequently, a multiple-entry visa would be a better choice. You can check if your visa permits single or multiple entry by checking the visa sticker or stamp affixed in your passport.

The key difference between a single-entry and a multiple-entry visa lies in the number of times you are permitted to enter the country during the validity of your visa. Therefore, if you are allowed to enter the country only once, it will be a single-entry visa; if you are permitted to enter and exit the country multiple times, it will be referred to as a multiple-entry visa.

Suppose you have a single-entry visa for India, then you can enter India and stay for the permitted duration of the visa or a shorter duration as well. Then, once you leave the country, that is the end of your visa, and you will not be allowed to enter again without applying and acquiring another visa. However, if you have a multiple-entry visa, then you can enter the country more than once, but once the permitted visa duration expires, no entry will be possible, and you will have to apply for a new visa if you wish to enter the country again.

Keeping it simple, a single-entry visa allows the holder to enter a country only once during the visa's validity. In contrast, a multiple-entry visa permits the holder to enter and exit the country multiple times within the visa's validity period.
