Anyone Facing Passport Validation Errors?

I'm hoping someone here has run into this issue because I'm not sure whether it's a problem with my passport or the new India e-Arrival Card portal.

I'm traveling from the United States to India next week and have started filling out the e-Arrival Card online. Everything goes smoothly until I enter my passport details. After I submit the passport number, nationality, and expiry date, the system displays a "Passport Validation Error" and won't let me continue.

I've checked my passport several times to make sure I entered the information correctly. I even copied the details exactly as they appear on the biometric page. My passport is valid for another six years, and I haven't renewed it recently. I also tried completing the form on Chrome, Firefox, and my mobile phone, but I get the same message every time.

Has anyone else experienced this passport validation error? If you did, was it caused by incorrect information, a temporary issue with the portal, or something else? Did the problem resolve on its own, or did you have to contact support?

I'm mainly looking for recent experiences because the e-Arrival Card system is still fairly new, and I'm not sure whether this is a common issue or just something affecting my application. I know procedures can change, so I'd appreciate hearing what worked for others.

I haven't personally seen the passport validation error, but I did have trouble with another section of the e-Arrival Card portal. Clearing my browser cache, opening a private browsing window, and entering all the information again solved it.

If your passport has recently been renewed or if your name contains special characters, it might also be worth checking whether the portal expects the details exactly as shown in the machine-readable zone rather than the visual page.

If the error continues despite multiple attempts, I'd take screenshots of the message and contact the official support channel. Since the system is still evolving, support may be able to confirm whether there's a temporary technical issue.

I had the same error while applying from Australia, but it wasn't actually related to my passport. The portal appeared to be having technical issues that day because several people on another travel forum reported identical validation errors.

I waited until the next morning and tried again without changing any of my details. The application went through successfully on the first attempt.

Based on my experience, I wouldn't panic if all of your passport information is accurate. Online government portals occasionally have temporary glitches, especially after new features or updates are introduced. It's worth trying again after a few hours before assuming there's an issue with your passport.

I ran into a similar issue last week while completing the form for my parents. In our case, the problem turned out to be the passport expiry date format. I had entered it exactly as printed on the passport, but the portal expected a different date format. Once I corrected that, the validation error disappeared.

Before contacting anyone, I'd double-check every field, including spaces, passport number, nationality, and date selection. Sometimes these online forms are stricter than expected.

If everything looks correct, it could simply be a temporary validation issue with the system rather than your passport itself.
