To apply for a PIO to OCI conversion application, you need to follow the steps given below: 
 

  1. You need to visit the official OCI services website.
  2.  Fill out the online application form by selecting the application type as "OCI instead of PIO card". 
  3. Then you need to upload all the documents with your foreign passport and PIO card. 
  4. Pay the required fees for the PIO to OCI conversion application online. 
  5. Now, you need to book an appointment at the nearest Indian embassy or consulate for the verification of documents and the OCI application. 
  6. Go to the nearest appointment center and submit your OCI application along with the supporting documents. 
  7. After submission, you can track the status of your OCI application.

    For the PIO to OCI conversion application, an individual needs to pay a fee of 137$ to get an OCI card. According to the Government of India, the issuance of new PIO cards was discontinued, effective from January 9, 2015. Therefore, individuals who hold a PIO card must apply for conversion to OCI through the official OCI services by filing an online application form.
