As far as I know, OCI cardholders are treated similarly to Indian citizens when it comes to taking admission to Indian universities. However, there are some rules that you should consider.

This is my advice to every parent who is planning to admit their OCI child to Indian schools or universities: make sure to have all the important documents handy,  including the OCI card and any other required educational certificates.

I suggest that you check the specific institution's website before taking admission to get detailed information, because every university may have its own set of rules and policies regarding OCI admissions.

If I complete my 12th grade in the US and hold an OCI card, will I be allowed to apply through the Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) scheme for undergraduate programs in India?

As per my knowledge, when it comes to schooling in India, there is absolutely no difference between an OCI, an NRI, and an Indian citizen. All they require is some documents to prove their DOB identity and other essential credentials.
