Does a Minor Need Separate Portal Registration for e-OCI?

I'm trying to generate an e-OCI Card for my 10-year-old son, who already has a valid OCI card. I recently created my own account on the new OCI Services Portal, but I'm confused about whether my child needs a separate portal registration or if I can manage everything from my account.

I noticed that the portal mentions linking family members, but I'm not sure how that works for minors. Does each child need their own login, or can a parent add the child's OCI details to an existing account after updating the registered email address?

Has anyone recently completed the e-OCI setup for a minor? If so, did you have to create a separate account first, or were you able to manage your child's e-OCI through your own portal account?

I'd appreciate any recent experiences because I don't want to create unnecessary accounts if they're not required.

I also had two children's OCI cards to manage. You don't necessarily need separate portal accounts for each child. Once each OCI record is linked to the same registered email address, they can all be managed from one account. Just remember that each child's email update request has to be completed individually before linking them together.

My son's OCI was issued several years ago, and there wasn't any email linked to it. I created a new portal account using my current email address and submitted an Email ID Updation request through OCI Miscellaneous Services. After it was approved, his OCI appeared in the dashboard and I could generate the e-OCI. That approval took about two days in my case.

I went through this for my daughter a few days ago. Initially, I thought she needed a separate login, but after reading the portal FAQs, I found that a single user account can manage multiple family members. The important step was updating the registered email address for her OCI record first. Once that was approved, I was able to access her OCI from my account.
