My wife and I are traveling from Canada to India next month with our 9-month-old daughter to visit our families. This will be her first international trip, so we're trying to make sure we have all the paperwork in order before we leave.
Our daughter has her own Canadian passport and a valid OCI card. While reading about India's digital e-Arrival Card, I wasn't sure whether infants also need a separate submission or whether they're automatically covered under a parent's details.
Since she's obviously too young to complete anything herself, I'd be filling out the form on her behalf. I also wanted to know if it's okay to use the same email address for all three submissions or if each traveler needs a separate account.
I've seen different answers online, and some of the information seems outdated because the digital arrival process has changed recently. Has anyone traveled to India with an infant since the e-Arrival Card became mandatory? Were there any extra documents requested at immigration besides the passport and OCI card?
I'd appreciate hearing about recent experiences. I know requirements can change, so I'll also check the latest official guidance before we travel.
We flew from the UK to Mumbai about two weeks ago with our 7-month-old daughter.
I had exactly the same concern because many countries allow infants to be included under a parent's arrival declaration. For India, I decided not to take any chances and completed an individual e-Arrival Card for every traveler.
The baby's application was very quick because most of the travel details matched ours. I simply entered her passport information and OCI details where required.
Nobody specifically asked to see the confirmation during boarding, but I kept screenshots ready in case they were needed. Everything went smoothly at immigration.
Since the system is still relatively new, it's worth checking the latest official instructions before departure because procedures may be updated.
We traveled from California to Hyderabad in May with our 11-month-old son. Both my husband and I completed our own e-Arrival Cards, and I submitted a separate one for our baby using his passport and OCI card details.
I used the same email address for all three applications without any issues. Each submission generated its own confirmation email, which I saved on my phone and printed before our flight.
Immigration was straightforward. The officer checked our son's passport and OCI card just like ours. They didn't ask who had completed the form since it was obvious a parent had submitted it on behalf of an infant.
My suggestion is to double-check your baby's passport number and date of birth because it's easy to accidentally enter a parent's information when completing multiple forms.

Our family traveled from Australia in June with our 14-month-old daughter.
From our experience, one parent can submit the e-Arrival Cards for everyone in the family, but each traveler—including infants—should have their own individual submission linked to their passport.
One thing that helped us was creating a folder on our phone with all the confirmation emails, passports, and OCI documents. That made it easy to access everything when we landed.
According to recent guidance, foreign nationals and OCI cardholders can complete the digital e-Arrival Card online within 72 hours before arriving in India. The form can be submitted by a parent or guardian on behalf of a child, but each traveler should have their own record. Requirements may change, so it's always best to verify the latest instructions before traveling.
