No, Americans do not need a visa to travel to Japan if their stay is less than or up to 90 days in the country. They only need a valid American passport, sufficient funds, and ID proof for their trip to Japan. In addition, during your stay in the country, your passport should remain valid and have blank pages.

You should have a valid American passport and onward or return flight tickets by your side to visit Japan for less than 3 months. In addition, during your trip duration, your passport should be valid. Also, you cannot work in the country on a 90-day "visa-free entry."

If you have an American passport by your side and want to travel to Japan for not more than 90 days, then you do not need to apply for a visa. The country offers visa-free entry to American citizens or American passport holders for up to 3 months.

If you are a US citizen traveling to Japan, you do not need to apply for a visa. Just visit the official immigration site of Japan, complete your immigration and customs paperwork before your visit, and enjoy your 90-day stay in the country.

No, American citizens are generally not required to obtain a visa to visit Japan if their stay in the country is not more than three months and they are not employed by a Japanese company. However, for stays over three months or a job with a Japanese company, Americans need to apply for a visa before entering the country.
