If you are an Indian citizen, it is vital to have a valid visa to travel to Japan. The country does not allow visa-free entry or visa-on-arrival services to the citizens of India. Before traveling, one should have a valid visa that matches their travel purpose and intended stay duration in the country.

Yes, if you are from India, you need to apply for a valid Japanese visa according to your travel purpose and intended stay duration in the country. Generally, it is advisable to apply for your visa in advance of your planned travel date, allowing sufficient time for visa processing and ensuring you fulfill any required documents.

I won't say getting a Japanese visa is hard, nor do I say it is simple, but some specific things need to be considered before applying for a Japanese visa. You need to believe that the country is a developed nation. Once an Indian citizen wants to travel to Japan, the visa officials need to confirm that the individual did not overstay in the country. Additionally, would not misuse the given Japan tourist visa. One way to handle this situation is to provide your travel history if you have previously visited other countries, which can ease the Japan visa application process for you. Furthermore, applying for a Japanese tourist visa with blank passport pages and no previous travel history in some cases can lower the visa success rate. However, with proper documentation, you may still obtain a Japan visa easily.

Japan does not offer an e-visa or visa-on-arrival to Indian citizens, so Indian passport holders need to apply for a physical visa. However, the application process is not so complicated; I recently applied for Japan tourist visas for me, my wife, and my two kids. With a correctly filled application form and proper documentation, I received the visas for my family within three business days. Apart from the easy visa application process, the good thing is that the cost of a Japanese visa from India is not so costly.
