How Can I Get a Police Clearance Certificate?

I applied for a PCC from a local police station. I visited the nearest police station and provided all the required details to the police officer to help them conduct a background check. They asked me about the purpose of my application and to provide the self-attested documents. I was prepared for the same because it was mentioned on the Passport Seva portal. After that, I paid the fee using cash. I received my PCC quickly within nearly 20 working days. The processing time was faster for me, maybe because I had a clear criminal history. Remember, the decision to issue the PCC will completely depend on the authorities. They will decide whether to issue the PCC or not once they review your documents and complete the background check and verification.

The PCC issuance process is quite straightforward and will be easier if you don't have any criminal history. The process includes submission of the application, verification, document submission, background check, and certificate issuance.

Log in to the passport portal and apply for the PCC. You need to select the country for which you need the PCC; it will be issued for that specific country. If you change the country, you will have to fill out a new form. Take an appointment at your nearest PSK and visit the center with the required documents.

I applied for a PCC recently to travel somewhere abroad. I would like to share some information that if you need the PCC to use it for abroad travel, then you might have to get it attested by the Ministry of External Affairs.

I wasn't comfortable with the online process. So, I applied for the PCC offline. I visited the local police station near my house and submitted the application form along with all the documents that I was asked for.  Once I did that, the police conducted a verification process in which they also visited my residence, and once everything went right, I received my PCC.
