e-OCI Card Not Received After Approval – Anyone Else?

I'm hoping someone here has gone through something similar with the new e-OCI Card process.

I applied for my OCI through VFS Toronto, and my application status on the OCI portal changed to "Granted" last week. I was under the impression that once the application was approved, the e-OCI Card would be available almost immediately. However, it's now been five days, and I still can't access or download it.

I haven't received any email from the Indian Consulate or VFS, and I don't see any download option when I log into the OCI portal using the same email address that I used for my application. I even checked my spam and junk folders, but there's nothing there.

Has anyone else experienced a delay between the "Granted" status and actually receiving access to the e-OCI Card? If so, how long did you have to wait? Did the card eventually appear automatically, or did you have to contact VFS or the Consulate?

I'm not travelling for another month, so I have some time, but I'd like to avoid unnecessary follow-ups if this is a normal part of the process. I know processing systems are still evolving, and individual cases can vary, so I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has recently completed the e-OCI process.

Thanks in advance for sharing your experience.

We recently completed two e-OCI applications for our children through VFS Sydney.

One child's e-OCI became available the day after approval, while the other took nearly five days, even though both applications were submitted together. We contacted VFS after a few days, and they suggested checking the OCI portal periodically because availability can depend on when the digital record is updated.

They also reminded us to make sure we were logging in with the same email address used during the application. Fortunately, both cards eventually became available without any additional documents being requested.

Mine was processed through VFS London, and I actually had the opposite experience.

The e-OCI was available the same day the status changed to "Granted," but I still didn't receive any email notification. A colleague who applied around the same time had to wait almost four days before the download option appeared.

That made me realize there isn't always a consistent timeline. As long as the status says "Granted," I'd probably keep checking the portal for a few more days before assuming something is wrong.

I had a similar experience through VFS Chicago.

My application showed "Granted", but the e-OCI wasn't available straight away. I checked the portal every day, and it finally appeared about three days later. Interestingly, I never received an email notification—the only reason I knew it was ready was because I logged into the portal again.

From what I've seen, the system updates aren't always instant. If it's only been a few days, it may just be taking a little longer for the digital card to become available.
