How long does an OCI application take in the USA after acknowledgment?

I had a longer wait than both of you. My application stayed under process for around seven weeks.

In my case, I had changed my name when I became a US citizen, so I had several documents showing the old and new names. I suspect the additional verification may have contributed to the longer processing time, although I don't know that for certain.

The important thing is that 30 days shouldn't necessarily be treated as a guaranteed maximum. It is better to look at it as the normal processing timeframe published by the authorities.

If your application is otherwise complete and there hasn't been a request for additional documents, I would continue monitoring the status. If the delay becomes unusually long, contacting the relevant Indian Mission/Post would be more appropriate than repeatedly submitting another application.
