Child's e-OCI Card Approved but Not Available for Download

I'm based in Texas, USA, and recently applied for an e-OCI Card for my 4-year-old daughter through the new OCI Services Portal. Both my wife and I are OCI cardholders, and the application process went fairly smoothly.

Last week, the application status changed to "Approved", which was a huge relief. However, when I log into the portal and open the application dashboard, I still don't see the option to download her e-OCI Card. I expected a download button to appear immediately after approval, but it's been three days, and nothing has changed.

I've tried logging in from different browsers, clearing the cache, and checking both the parent account and the application reference page, but the download option is still missing. I also checked my email in case there was a notification, but I haven't received anything yet.

Has anyone experienced their child's e-OCI Card being approved but not available for download? Did the download become available after a few days, or did you need to contact the Indian Mission or VFS? I'm trying to understand whether this is a normal delay between approval and document generation or if there's something wrong with my application.

I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who's gone through this recently. I know portal updates and processing timelines can vary, so I'm just looking for real-world experiences before raising a query with the authorities.

I applied from Australia for my daughter's e-OCI Card earlier this year.

In our case, the application status was approved, but I received an email notification several hours before the download link actually appeared on the portal. By the next morning, everything was available.

I'd also suggest checking the portal during different times of the day because I noticed updates weren't always reflected immediately. Sometimes the system simply takes a little time to synchronize after the final approval.

Of course, every application is different, so if the delay continues, it's reasonable to verify the status with the appropriate Indian Mission.

Our application was processed through the UK, and the timeline was a little different.

The approval status appeared on a Friday, but the downloadable e-OCI Card wasn't available until the following Monday. I assumed the system was still updating in the background.

One thing I'd recommend is checking whether you're logged into the same account that was used to submit the application. My spouse initially logged into a different account and couldn't see the download option, which caused some confusion.

If nothing changes after a few more days, it may be worth contacting the Indian Mission or VFS handling your application to ask whether any further action is needed.

We had almost the same experience in Canada with our son's application.

His OCI status showed Approved, but the e-OCI Card wasn't available for download until about two days later. We kept checking the portal a few times a day, and eventually the download option appeared automatically without us doing anything.

I think there can sometimes be a short delay between the approval status and the generation of the digital document. We didn't contact anyone because it resolved on its own.
