Yes, you can apply for a family of 3 OCI from the USA. I also recently became a citizen of the US. The first thing I did was officially renounce my Indian citizenship. To apply for the OCI card, you need to do this to get a renunciation certificate. In case you are applying for the card in another relationship status, you do not need the renunciation certificate. For instance, using your Indian spouse.

Yes, you can definitely prepare all the applications at the same time, but don't expect them to move through the system together.

My wife received her OCI about two weeks before mine, even though we mailed everything in the same envelope. The status updates were also different for each application.

If you're applying for a child, make sure the birth certificate and relationship documents are included exactly as listed in the current checklist. Requirements can change, so it's worth reviewing the latest guidance before submitting.

Our experience in California was very similar.

Although we submitted the applications together, each family member had a separate checklist, photo, signature, and fee. We labelled each set of documents with the applicant's name, which helped avoid confusion.

My advice would be to double-check the VFS checklist for minors before sending everything. Missing parental documents are one of the common reasons people receive requests for additional information.

We applied for OCI cards for our family of four through VFS Houston earlier this year.

Each of us had to complete a separate OCI application online, including our two children. We printed all the forms, prepared separate document sets, and then mailed everything together in one package. That made shipping easier, but each application was still treated individually.

Our kids' applications required extra documents, including their birth certificates and copies of both parents' passports. The acknowledgements came within a few days of each other, but the OCI cards were approved on different dates.

Hi, I have also applied for the OCI card for me, my wife, and my daughter together after getting US citizenship. I did not face any issues during the application process, as before applying for the OCI card, I went through all the guidelines and gathered the required documents for the process.

Since my husband is an American citizen who only qualifies for the OCI card through me, he has to wait till I get my OCI card. My child could also apply for the card alongside me, but would have to use my parents/grandparents as his 'Root Indian.' The situation will be too complicated in different ways. So, I decided that for now, first, I will apply for the card, and then the whole family together will use my card as 'Root Indian' for their OCI application.
