I wouldn't rely only on websites listing “Philippine routing numbers.” Different banking identifiers are used for different purposes.

Ask the recipient's Philippine bank for its incoming international wire instructions. They should confirm the SWIFT/BIC code, account details and whether an intermediary bank is required. Requirements can vary between banks.

The routing number and SWIFT code are different things. An ABA routing number is mainly used for U.S. domestic banking, while SWIFT/BIC is commonly used for international transfers.

When I made a transfer, the Philippine bank provided the SWIFT code and additional receiving instructions. I would verify the code with the bank before sending the money.

I had a similar issue when sending money from the U.S. to the Philippines. My bank asked for the recipient bank’s SWIFT/BIC code, not a U.S.-style routing number. I also had to provide the account number and beneficiary details.

I’d recommend asking the recipient to get the bank’s current international wire instructions directly. Online code directories can sometimes be outdated.

I sent money from Metrobank to an SBI account in India a few months ago. The bank requested the beneficiary's account number, IFSC code, bank address, and SWIFT code. They didn't ask for any routing number.

If you're filling out the form online and it asks for a routing number, it may simply be using a generic template that's also used for U.S. bank transfers. I confirmed this with my bank before submitting the transaction.

My experience with BDO was similar. For international wire transfers, the SWIFT code was the important identifier. The staff at the branch explained that Philippine banks don't generally use routing numbers for international payments.

One thing I'd suggest is double-checking the SWIFT code directly with your beneficiary bank in India because even a small mistake can delay the transfer. Requirements can vary depending on the sending and receiving banks.
