What is the Process for Obtaining Refugee or Asylum Status?

For my asylum status, I have to wait a certain period of time, which depends on the country to which I am applying. This gives me the idea that before applying for refugee status, you must consider the country where you are applying. It can also take several months to get your refugee status.

To get a refugee or asylum status, you need to first register for the refugee status determination, in between your biographical and other data should be collected, and when you need to go for through an interview, where you need to state the reason for fleeing your country, and after that you will get a final decision, weather you will get a refugee status or not.

Generally, people seeking asylum must prove persecution in their home country based on race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or social group. Every country follows different procedures for asylum applications, so it is vital to research the specific requirements.
