I am someone who frequently travels to India for business, and the lifetime OCI validity features save me from applying for a visa each time. I just showed my OCI card at the immigration and got entry without any extra fees or documents.
I finally got the chance to explore my roots in India after my retirement, and because I had an OCI, I had to worry about nothing. For those of you who don't know what the lifetime validity feature is, it means I am allowed to travel to India anytime without facing any restrictions or without going through the stressful paperwork for the rest of my life.
We applied for an OCI card for our son recently, and I know that minors need to reissue their OCI card after they renew their passport, but I am happy with the fact that once they turn 20, their OCI card will be valid for life. It is such a huge relief for us as parents because they will not have to go through the stress of complex paperwork or renewing their passports every time they change them.
I live in the US, and I visit India almost every year to meet my friends and family, and the lifetime validity of my OCI card is so helpful because I don't have to worry about renewing my visa or checking the expiry dates every time before my journey. It feels so relaxing to know that I can go to India and meet my parents anytime I want without going through the visa process again and again.
