The current Indian passport processing time in major Indian cities ranges between 10 to 12 days after physical submission of the passport application and interview. This processing time is for a fresh application for a passport. In case you are applying for passport renewal with no changes to it, you will receive it within a week.

As I have heard, the latest time for the processing of the Indian passport in the major cities is for the normal passport application, it will take about 7-10 days, and including the police verification, it can take up to 35-40 days. The reissuing of the Indian passport will normally take about 7-10 days before the police verification, and after the Police verification, it will take approximately 30 days, which can be different in other cities like Chennai and other metro cities, depending on the PSK digitalised systems.

Things are changing in our country, and with time, it is moving towards development and digitalisation. Also, it impacted the passport processing time. Now, in just 20 days, you will receive your new passport in India. However, for this, all you need to do is provide valid documents and complete the application form without any mistakes or errors.

From the date of appointment to passport receipt, it took a maximum of 15 days to receive your passport in Indian, if the police provide a clear report. The processing time can be even less if police verification is done on time, and you contact the officials once you get the message from the Passport Seva Kendra that your police verification is initiated. The renewal time is also the same as the new passport application.

Sharing my experience with you, I applied for an indian passport for my 1-year-old baby at the Bangalore PSK. For a thumb impression, the baby needs to be present at the PSK Center. We applied for the passport online and, during the appointment, carried out all the documents mentioned. At 11:00, a token was issued, and by 11:20 am, we had completed the remaining application process without any hassle. For senior citizens and minors, there is a separate queue and token, and compared to adults, the process is also relatively fast. By 12:30, we got a message that the passport had been sent for printing, and by evening, the passport was dispatched to our address by speed post. By 10:45 am the next day, we had our child's passport. This is the fastest passport service I have ever experienced. Great work by the Bangalore PSK.
